Anime Expo 2026 has already come and gone, but there are plenty of details to dig into from the four-day-long event. In terms of panels, there were some cool ones, including the one in which Mob Psycho 100’s director reflected on the anime’s incredible ending, another in which the cast of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners hyped up its second season, and uh… one in which the creator of Danganronpa 2×2 told fans to play Grand Theft Auto 6 while they wait for its release.
In terms of trailers, though, there are way too many to cover. Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is coming back in September, we got a little teaser trailer for Witch Hat Atelier’s second season, and a new trailer for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi. However, those weren’t technically announcements, as we’ve known they’ve been in production for a while now.
So, instead, let’s go over the six biggest reveals at the event—the real juicy stuff that we didn’t know about beforehand. Hope you’ve got some vacation days summer line-up looked exhausting to keep up with…
Solo Leveling is getting a movie
Considering how divisive Solo Leveling is amongst anime fans, it’s probably best we get this out of the way first. Solo Leveling is getting a theatrical film, titled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, that will serve as the canon continuation of the story and will pick up from where season two of the anime left off.
There’s no release date in sight, but we did get a teaser trailer. Usually I’d assume that most of those very realistic-looking shots are either live-action or CGI, but considering what animators A-1 Pictures are capable of, there’s a non-zero chance that’s not the case. The only other thing we can confirm at this point is that Solo Leveling: Beyond the System will be co-produced by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C Media and Kakao Piccoma.
Persona 4 Revival’s cutscenes are being animated by MAPPA
Speaking of A-1 Pictures, we received a lot of info about Atlus’ upcoming Persona 4 remake, Persona 4 Revival. Atlus showed off some new costumes and merch, and announced that Abby Trott, who voiced Tae Takemi in Persona 5 Royal, will voice Rise Kujikawa in the Persona 4 remake.

However, the biggest announcement was that MAPPA, the animation studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, will be taking over animation duties for Persona 4 Revival. This isn’t the first time that Atlus has hired a big-name studio to produce the cutscenes for a Persona 4 game—actually, it’s not even the second time. The original release of Persona 4 featured cutscenes animated by both Studio Hibari and A-1 Pictures, and Persona 4 Golden even featured an opening animated by Madhouse, so it’s really no surprise that Atlus brought out the big guns for the remake.
Delicious in Dungeon‘s second season finally gets a release date
As far as its anime content is concerned, Netflix has produced some bangers in the past few years. But, if you ask me, the best Netflix-exclusive anime has always been Studio Trigger’s Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi). However, if you can believe it, the first (and currently only) season of the anime adaptation premiered two and a half years ago, which is why Delicious in Dungeon fans have been climbing up the walls during the wait for the second season.

Well, unfortunately, they’ll be waiting a lot longer for Delicious in Dungeon to return, but at least now they have a release date. It’s roughly 15 months away, as season two will exclusively be dropping on Netflix sometime in October 2027. It’s a long wait, especially considering how long fans already waited, but hey—animation of this kind of quality takes a while.
The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All is dropping in January 2027
An anime adaptation of Sumiko Arai’s 2022 manga was announced back in 2025, but we hadn’t heard much since…that is, until its January 2027 release date was announced alongside a new trailer.
While the manga is ridiculously popular, I think the reason this announcement received so much hype during Anime Expo 2026 is mostly due to the choice of song in the recently released teaser trailer. It’s not unheard of for an anime to use a big Western song in its opening, but hearing Nirvana’s Breed still surprised me nonetheless. Apparently the manga references a lot of licensed tracks, so this is a good sign for fans that CloverWorks’ adaptation is going to be a faithful one.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is coming to Crunchyroll
It’s almost been a whole year since Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle released in theaters on July 18, 2025…and it’s still not available to buy on Blu-Ray. That’s not the norm for anime movies, but perhaps it shouldn’t be too surprising when you take into account that the film made almost $800 million at the box office. It was the seventh highest-grossing film of 2025, beating out the likes of Superman, F1, and How to Train Your Dragon.

Thankfully, the Blu-ray and DVD release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle drops on July 29, but for the time being, it’s a Japan-exclusive release. Don’t worry about paying some ridiculous import fees to get hold of it, however, as it will finally be coming to streaming a day before, on July 28, exclusively on Crunchyroll.
Studio Bones’ Fate Rewinder Is Releasing In April 2027
If you’ve not heard of Fate Rewinder, then you’re in for a treat when it releases next year, as Fūta Kimura’s time-traveling action-comedy manga is a straight-up banger. However, we’ve all been burned by terrible adaptations in the past (sorry, One Punch Man fans), which is why it’s nice to have the legendary animation studio Bones, which is behind the likes of Mob Psycho 100, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Gachiakuta, at the helm on this one.
This is the first time we’ve heard about Fate Rewinder’s adaptation since a vague initial announcement toward the end of 2025. The long wait was worth it, though, as Anime Expo 2026 treated us to a trailer and an April 2027 release date. There’s a lot to look forward to next year, but given how great the manga is and how much animation prestige this one has behind it, Fate Rewinder is already shaping up to be 2027’s most exciting releases.
