Paramount Skydance boss and failed actor David Ellison, who is currently destroying CBS News, is continuing to make big changes at the company he took control of last year. His latest plan is to merge Paramount and Skydance’s current video game studios into one new company, Paramount Games Studio.
On Friday, as reported by Variety, Paramount announced Paramount Games Studio. This newly formed division within the media giant was created by merging Skydance’s two existing game studios with Paramount’s large IP library.
Tony Driscoll, currently Paramount’s head of corporate strategy and development, has been named as the president of Paramount Games Studio. Uncharted writer and game designer Amy Henning was promoted to the studio’s creative director. She’s also continuing to lead development on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and a previously announced Star Wars game, both of which Variety confirmed are still being developed. In 2025, Rise of Hydra was delayed with no new release date provided.
“This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games – not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming,” Driscoll said. “We are committed to creating exceptional games for every type of player, from casual to AAA, and building enduring experiences across our beloved Paramount IP and original worlds that deepen fan engagement and drive long-term growth.”
Paramount Games Studio will reveal its first big AAA video game at Summer Game Fest on June 5.
Paramount Skydance is currently in the middle of trying to acquire Warner Bros., with Ellison reportedly promising President Trump that if the deal goes through, he would make big changes to CNN, a news network Trump hates. Buying WB would also give Paramount Games Studios access to Mortal Kombat, Batman, and more brands. It would also be one more step forward in our march towards a grey goo pop culture universe where three companies own everything, and nothing is allowed to be itself, but instead must be mixed with other popular IP. Yay?
