It’s been nearly six years since the release of Genshin Impact, a game that was originally intended for release on PlayStation 4, PC, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. Its September 2020 launch saw it appear on the first four of those platforms, and it has since gotten a dedicated PS5 version and come to Xbox Series consoles. The Nintendo Switch version, however, has been MIA this whole time, though dataminers think they’ve found a clue suggesting its release might finally be imminent.
This comes from Genshin Impact leaker Lunar Kuroo posting on Telegram and reshared on Reddit below. According to Lunar Kuroo, the recent 6.5.50 version of Genshin Impact added a Nintendo Switch account login manager internally. Though it’s not currently possible for regular players to connect a Nintendo account to Genshin Impact, it sounds like the functionality is on its way.
While this is not a guarantee of anything in particular, commenters are pointing out that a similar thing occurred shortly before Genshin Impact got its Xbox version, which is a good sign for the Switch. What will really be interesting is to see if a potential Genshin Impact on Nintendo consoles is Switch 2-exclusive, as there have been community concerns that miHoYo was struggling to get it working on the original Switch, hence the delay.
However, we won’t know anything until miHoYo or HoYoVerse confirms one way or another, and the company has been uncomfortably silent about a Switch version for a while now…unsurprising given that it’s six years late.
