Once Again You Need To Make Space On The EFI Partition You Should Never Touch
The EFI System Partition, better known as ESP, does exist and if you aren’t familiar with it already you should never have to be. Unfortunately Microsoft doesn’t feel that way and once again a lack of space on your EFI partition will cause May’s security update to fail. As is now tradition, the extremely vague error message doesn’t help you determine what the issue is. It’s almost like Microsoft resents giving us, their beta testers, enough information to properly determine the cause of problems while simultaneously demanding that we do fix these issues for them.
You should never have to play with your EFI partition, yet even the upgrade from Win10 to Win11 sometimes required that you do have to access it and modify it. If you are feeling brave you can mount your EFI partition and delete all the TTF files under EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Fonts. Generally you will find the EFI partition on Y: but some systems map it to Z: or other letters.
If you aren’t familiar with mounting partitions you should wait for a fix, as damaging the EFI partition is very bad for anyone who wants a computer that can still boot into the OS.
