Today Was A Bad Day To Come In Early
There is often a definite benefit to living on the west coast of NA, often by the time your day starts other techs have already experienced whatever fresh hell our providers are inflicting upon us and sometimes have even fixed it. Today is one of those days, where the majority of the world has been dealing with a complete AWS outage. The services are starting to come back online, but for most people this Monday involved failed connections to a wide variety of services and even your average user noticed Lyft, Prime Video, and even Fornite logins were all having serious problems.
The only somewhat good news is that this was an internal DNS issue, and doesn’t seem to be the result of an attack on AWS. Services are being restored but Amazon’s network load balancers are having difficulty catching up with the pent up demand and you may still encounter connectivity issues. Bleeping Computer has posted a list of all effected services, though chances are if one of your AWS resources is having issues you are already fully aware of it.
AWS outage has taken down millions of websites, including Amazon.com, Prime Video, Perplexity AI, Canva and more.
