The Yu-Gi-Oh TCG and Master Duel content creator Alex Cimo, also known by his YouTube handle Cimoooooooo, passed on June 3 after a lengthy battle with stage IV colon cancer. The news made its way to the the internet last night following a leaked statement released by Alex’s mother in a now-deleted LinkedIn post, who praised her son for his “passion and positivity,” alongside Cimo’s charity work and donations for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
I’ve been watching Alex Cimo’s content for many years now. In fact, I can pinpoint the exact month I started watching his videos, as it coincides with the month of Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel’s release date; January 2022. As a result, I’ve been following Cimo’s battle with colon cancer from around the same time, as he spoke very publicly about his cancer treatment in videos posted to his channel. The latest health update posted to his official channel was on December 31, 2025, simply titled “Hope.”
The last video to be released to his channel, the latest entry in the 100+ episode long “Masochist” Master Duel series, was published on March 20, 2026, just over two months ago. Several of his friends and fellow Yu-Gi-Oh content creators, including Farfa, MBT, and Ruxin34, have released videos to commemorate the loss of Alex within the past 24 hours, following the news of his passing reaching the Yu-Gi-Oh community.
As MBT explained in his video, the news of Alex Cimo’s death was supposed to be revealed in a video released to Cimo’s YouTube channel, which has yet to be uploaded. MBT was informed by Alex of his declining health at some point in March, and asked that fans respect the privacy of his family in the process of voicing how “important” Alex was to them.
“I owe everything I have to Alex. We met at a PPG event[…]and within a couple of rounds, it became clear this guy was going to be my friend for life,” MBT stated in his video. “He put me in the financial position I’m in today. Without him, I could not raise a family. But as important to me as he was as a mentor, he was even more important as a friend.”
