Graveyard Keeper lets you toil away in a medieval graveyard as the sole person responsible for managing the place, including all the dead bodies that keep arriving every day. It’s hard work, but rewarding, too. And also a bit creepy. And weird. But more importantly, for the next few days, this oddball simulator is completely free on Steam.
From now until April 13, you can go grab a free copy of Graveyard Keeper on Steam. The sim works pretty well on Steam Deck, has a lot of wild DLC, and even has plenty of mods to mess around with if you want to change things up.
Graveyard Keeper arrived on Steam in 2018, about two years after Stardew Valley, and it’s impossible not to see how it was directly inspired by that game and Harvest Moon. In fact, the people behind the game openly confirmed that Stardew Valley was a big inspiration for Graveyard Keeper. But among the sea of Stardew Valley clones that followed in that game’s massive success, Graveyard Keeper is one of the best, featuring a robust and totally inaccurate pixelated simulation of what it was like to run and manage a medieval cemetery long ago. And this hit game just got a sequel announced at the Triple-I indie showcase on April 9. So to celebrate, the people behind the OG game have made it free on Steam. No strings attached.
Meanwhile, here’s the trailer for the newly announced Graveyard Keeper 2, which is very unlikely to be free when it launches sometime later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
